Domicile / Residence Certificate
A certificate from the state revenue department that shows you are a resident of the state. It is needed for state quota admissions, state jobs and some schemes.

Common questions
Is a domicile certificate the same as a residence certificate?
Most states use them for the same purpose, proving you live in the state. Some exams ask for a specific format, so read their notice.
How many years of stay are needed?
It differs by state. Delhi asks for 3 years of continuous residence. Admission rules may ask for more.
Can I hold domicile of two states?
No. You should hold a domicile certificate of only one state at a time.

Yeh documents taiyaar rakhein: Aadhaar or other photo ID; Proof of residence for the required years, e.g. ration card, school records, utility bills; Birth certificate or school leaving certificate; Passport size photo; Self declaration or affidavit where the state asks for it.
