GovtLicense Privacy Policy

What we collect on our US pages, why, and the choices you have. Written in plain English.

Last updated Nov 7, 2026.

Draft for legal review. This page is being reviewed before the US guide launches and may change.

Who this policy covers

This policy covers the GovtLicense US guide: every page under govtlicense.com/us/. GovtLicense is run by Piyush Chawla. Questions about privacy: [email protected].

What we collect

  • When you visit: Cloudflare, which delivers our pages, processes your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks. It may set a short security cookie.
  • Visit counts, only if you choose Accept: our own simple counter records the pages you view, time on each page, the website that sent you, your device type (phone, tablet or computer) and a random visitor number stored in your browser. It never records your name, email, IP address or anything you type.
  • When you contact us: your name, email, state, topic and message. Our email provider, Resend, delivers the confirmation email to you and a copy of your message to us.
  • The license finder: it runs in your browser. The state, city and business you pick are not sent to us.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, EINs, payment details or account passwords. There are no accounts on our US pages.

How we use it

  • To answer your message and fix mistakes you report.
  • To see which pages help people, so we can improve them (only with your Accept).
  • To keep the site secure.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not show ads.

Cookies and similar storage

  • Your cookie choice (stored in your browser): remembers Accept or Decline.
  • Visit counter (only after Accept): a random visitor number and a visit number in your browser.
  • Cloudflare security cookie: helps tell people from bots.
  • Contact form limit (stored in your browser): the times you sent a message, so the form can slow down spam.

Affiliate links

Today our US pages have no affiliate links. If we add them, a partner may set its own cookies after you click its link, under its own privacy policy. We will update this policy first. See our affiliate disclosure.

Email

When you send us a message, we email you a short confirmation and then our reply. That is the only email we send. We do not run a mailing list on our US pages.

Your Privacy Choices

You can turn the visit counter on or off at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as Decline.

Without JavaScript the counter never runs.

Your rights under US state privacy laws

Residents of California and other states with privacy laws (for example Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon) have rights over their personal information, including the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy,
  • correct it,
  • delete it,
  • opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising (we do neither),
  • appeal if we turn down your request.

To make a request, email [email protected] or use our contact form. We will confirm your request by email and answer within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Where data is stored and how long we keep it

Messages you send us are stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Mumbai, India. Visit counts are stored the same way. We keep messages only as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record of corrections, and you can ask us to delete them.

Children

Our US guide is for adults starting or running a business. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
