Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms before using GovtLicense.

1. Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of govtlicense.com and its related services ("GovtLicense", "we", "us"). By using the website or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What GovtLicense is

GovtLicense is an independent information service that summarises licences and registrations commonly needed by businesses in India, their official fees, documents and issuing authorities, and links to official government portals.

GovtLicense is not a government website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any central, state or local government, department or regulator. We do not issue licences, accept applications or collect government fees.

3. Information only, not advice

Content is general information for guidance. It is not legal, tax, financial or professional advice. Rules and fees change, vary by office and depend on your facts. You are responsible for confirming requirements and fees with the issuing authority before applying or paying. For advice specific to your business, consult a qualified professional.

4. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You log in with your own email address and password, or with a Google or Facebook account that belongs to you. We may later ask you to verify a mobile number you own by one-time password (OTP).
  • Keep your login accounts secure. You are responsible for activity under your GovtLicense account.
  • One person may hold one account. Usernames that impersonate others or government bodies are not allowed.
  • You can close your account at any time by contacting us.

5. Sharing checklists

When you share a checklist, it includes your name and, if verified, your mobile number and email. You are responsible for whom you share it with and for the accuracy of anything you add. Do not present a GovtLicense checklist as an official government document.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • misrepresent GovtLicense content as issued by a government authority;
  • use the service to defraud others, including charging people for government services while claiming to be official;
  • scrape, copy or republish the dataset in bulk without written permission;
  • attempt to break security, overload the service, or abuse OTP or login systems;
  • submit false corrections or unlawful content.

7. Your submissions

By submitting a correction, report or feedback, you allow us to use it to improve the service. Do not submit personal data of others or confidential documents.

8. Intellectual property

The GovtLicense name, logo, design and compiled content belong to us. Government Acts, rules, forms and notifications remain public documents of their respective authorities. You may share individual checklists for personal or client use.

We link to government portals and other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, fees or processing.

10. Fees

GovtLicense is free to use. If we introduce paid services, they will be clearly marked, and separate terms will apply. We will never charge for a government fee or claim that paying us speeds up a government process.

11. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, current or free of errors, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, GovtLicense is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on information on the website, including penalties, delays, rejected applications or fees paid, or from interruption of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify GovtLicense against claims arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these Terms.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, misuse OTP or login systems, or put other users at risk. You may stop using the service at any time.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Kolkata, West Bengal have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any rights you have under consumer protection law.

17. Grievances and contact

For complaints, contact our Grievance Officer at govtlicense.admin@gmail.com. We acknowledge within 24 hours and aim to resolve within 15 days. For other questions, see Contact Us.
