What is the new GST rate on retreaded tractor tyres?
Two reports (TaxGuru on 27 October 2026 and Lapaas Voice on 28 October 2026) say the Finance Ministry issued rate notifications on 27 October 2026. From 1 November 2026, retreaded tractor tyres attract 5% GST instead of 18%.
Lapaas Voice says that is 2.5% CGST plus 2.5% SGST within a state and 5% IGST between states. TaxGuru lists the goods under heading 4012 as a new separate entry in the 5% list.
Which tyres stay at 18% GST?
Both reports say only retreaded tractor tyres move to 5%. Other retreaded or used rubber pneumatic tyres stay at 18%. TaxGuru adds that solid or cushion tyres, tyre treads and tyre flaps also stay at 18%.
If you retread truck, bus or car tyres, nothing changes for you.

What is the GST rate on fertiliser from 1 November 2026?
The reports say the fertiliser entry at 5% now covers pre-packaged and labelled animal, vegetable and organic fertilisers. It includes seaweed extract based bio-stimulants registered under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985.
The reports we read do not say what the entry covered before, so we do not compare.
How much will a farmer or retreader save?
On a retreading job worth ₹5,000 before tax, GST at 18% is ₹900. At 5% it is ₹250, a difference of ₹650. This is our own arithmetic. Lapaas Voice makes the same point and notes that buyers gain only if the lower tax is passed on in the price.
Industry groups have said they wanted the cut to go further, so ask for a bill that shows the new rate.
What should a retreading shop or fertiliser dealer do?
Change the rate in your billing software for supplies on or after 1 November 2026, and keep tractor tyres separate from other retreaded tyres.
If you do not have a GST number, read our GST registration guide. Wait for the official notification on the CBIC site before changing past invoices.
