What changed in GST registration amendments?
Taxscan and A2Z Taxcorp both report that GSTN issued an advisory dated 1 November 2026 after CBIC Notification No. 05/2026-Central Tax dated 26 October 2026. The changes are live on the GST portal.
Most amendments are made through Form GST REG-14 and are now checked online by the portal. A tax officer no longer looks at them one by one.
Which GST registration changes need no officer approval?
Both reports list changes to the legal name of the business, the addition or removal of partners, directors or Karta, and changes to an additional place of business.
Earlier, several of these were treated as core changes and waited for the officer. The reports say they now go through online validation.

What is the 3-day OTP rule for GST amendments?
Both reports say online verification is needed for most amendments. You must complete OTP verification within three days of submitting the application.
Keep the mobile number and email of the authorised signatory active, because the OTP goes there. If you miss the three days, expect to file the application again.
Which change still needs a tax officer?
A change to the principal place of business is still examined by the proper officer. Both reports agree on this.
So if you are moving your main shop or office, plan for the usual wait, and keep your rent agreement and NOC ready. Our landlord NOC format can help.
What is not yet confirmed?
We could not open the CBIC notification or the GSTN advisory, because the official sites block our tools. Details that only one report gave, such as a later start date for some registrants, are left out here.
Check the notification on the CBIC site and the advisory on the GST portal before you rely on this page.
