DGFT's 2019 restricted list names nuclear reactors and related items in heading 8401. Other machinery is not in the lists we read.

Trade agreement and certificate of origin
India-EU Free Trade Agreement (concluded, not yet in force). Concluded on 27 January 2026. It enters into force after both sides complete their legal procedures.
Until the agreement is in force, exports to Germany use the non-preferential certificate of origin (₹200). Garment and leather exporters should check with their councils (AEPC, CLE) on what German buyers ask for.
Steps for this route
- Get your IEC from DGFT (IEC guide). Fee ₹500.
- Register on ICEGATE and register your bank's AD code (AD code guide).
- Confirm the 8-digit code with the German supplier's invoice and DGFT's policy.
- If the machine is a medical device, use the CDSCO route.
- Check whether the machine is new or used, because policy conditions for some codes treat them differently.
- File the Bill of Entry on ICEGATE, pay customs duty and IGST, and clear the goods (import guide).
