Apply for a ration card in Karnataka online

  1. Apply on Seva Sindhu (New Ration Card, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department)
  2. Aadhaar of all members is mandatory
  3. Note the Application Reference Number
  4. Track it on the Seva Sindhu home page or on the Ahara e-status page

Apply offline

  1. Apply at a Grama One, Bangalore One or Karnataka One centre. A service charge applies there

Documents to keep ready

  • Aadhaar of every family member
  • Proof of address, e.g. electricity bill or rent agreement
  • Income certificate or self declaration (for PHH or AAY)
  • Passport size photo of the head of family (usually the eldest woman)
  • Bank passbook
  • Surrender or deletion certificate if you had a card in another state or area

This is the national list. Confirm any extra paper on your state portal.

Card types

PHH and AAY (NFSA) and APL (NPHH). For a new APL card the Family ID generated on Seva Sindhu also serves as the APL ration card.

Under NFSA the state issues AAY and PHH cards (nfsa.gov.in).

A printed copy is sent by speed post within 15 days for ₹70 payable to the postman (Seva Sindhu APL page).
