Trade agreement and certificate of origin
India-EU Free Trade Agreement (concluded, not yet in force). Concluded on 27 January 2026. It enters into force on the first day of the second month after both sides exchange notifications that their legal procedures are complete.
Until the India-EU agreement is in force, exports to the Netherlands use the non-preferential certificate of origin (₹200). DGFT's Handbook of Procedures also describes the EU's Registered Exporter (REX) self-certification for the EU GSP scheme; registration on REX is without any fee. Check whether your product still qualifies for GSP.
What matters on the Indian side
- The Netherlands applies EU import rules, so you check the EU's Access2Markets portal for tariffs, product rules and documents. Food and plant products need EU-compliant health and phytosanitary papers.
- Mineral fuels are by far the largest export line to the Netherlands in the data, followed by electrical machinery and organic chemicals.
- Pharmaceutical exporters take their RCMC from Pharmexcil and engineering exporters from EEPC India.
