India-UK CETA in force since 15 July 2026.
In FY 2025-26, the largest groups of Indian exports to UK were machinery and mechanical appliances (US$ 2,221 million), electrical machinery and electronics (US$ 1,287 million), woven garments (US$ 806 million). The largest groups of imports from UK were pearls, gems, precious metals and jewellery (US$ 5,470 million), machinery and mechanical appliances (US$ 1,357 million), electrical machinery and electronics (US$ 722 million). All figures are from TradeStat.
Trade agreement and certificate of origin
India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). In force from 15 July 2026.
Under the CETA, DGFT's Handbook of Procedures says certificates of origin may also be obtained on the basis of a self-declaration by the exporter, in addition to a certificate from an authorised agency. A preferential certificate from an agency costs ₹600.

What matters on the Indian side
- PIB describes the CETA as providing zero-duty access on about 99% of India's exports to the UK. Whether your product line gets it depends on the tariff schedule, so check the line in the agreement text on the Department of Commerce site before you quote.
- PIB also says small consignments under £1,000 need no origin documentation.
- Garment, gem, pharmaceutical and engineering exporters keep their RCMC current with their councils, which advise members on rules of origin.
