In FY 2025-26, the largest groups of Indian exports to USA were electrical machinery and electronics (US$ 25,683 million), pharmaceutical products (US$ 8,665 million), machinery and mechanical appliances (US$ 7,190 million). The largest groups of imports from USA were mineral fuels and oils (US$ 17,315 million), pearls, gems, precious metals and jewellery (US$ 6,849 million), electrical machinery and electronics (US$ 5,552 million). Trade agreement and certificate of origin

India-US interim trade framework (no FTA in force). A framework for an interim agreement was announced in February 2026. Talks on a bilateral trade agreement continued in April 2026.

India has no preferential agreement in force with the USA that is listed in DGFT's Appendix 2A, so shipments to the USA use the non-preferential certificate of origin (₹200) when the buyer asks for one.

Food and agri exporters register with APEDA, MPEDA or the Spices Board, depending on the product. Pharmaceutical exporters take their RCMC from Pharmexcil. Garment exporters take it from AEPC.
Getting your RCMC, LUT and AD code in place before the first order avoids delays at the port.
