What it is and who must register

Shops and Establishments registration is a state law requirement for shops, offices, restaurants and similar places that employ people. In Delhi it comes under the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954.

Since the Delhi Shops and Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2026 (notified 11 March 2026), registration applies only to establishments with 20 or more employees.
