Partnership deed format
A written agreement between two or more partners that sets out the name of the firm, capital, profit sharing, powers and how the partnership can end.
What it is for
Use it when two or more people start a business together. Banks, the Registrar of Firms, GST and most licence offices ask for the deed of a partnership firm.
Who signs
Every partner signs every page or at least the last page. Two witnesses also sign.
Licences that need this format
Attach these
- ID and address proof of every partner
- PAN of every partner
- Proof of the business premises (ownership proof or rent agreement)
- Two witnesses with ID proof
Stamp duty and registration
A partnership deed is usually printed on stamp paper or e-stamp. The value depends on your state. Registering the deed itself is not compulsory, but registering the firm with the Registrar of Firms is a separate step and an unregistered firm has limits on going to court (section 69 of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932).
Stamp duty depends on your state and on the document. We do not show an amount here, because it changes and differs by state. Check it on the official portal of your state's registration department. Portals we found on government sites (checked 21 Oct 2026):
For any other state, check stamp duty with your state's registration department.
Fill it in, then download
Fill in the form. The document on the right changes as you type. Download it as Word or PDF, print it, or copy the text. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Ready-to-use template based on current law. For property sale, partnership or high-value agreements, get it checked by an advocate before signing.
