- Shops and Establishments registration: ₹5 up to 2 staff, ₹10 for 3 to 5, ₹20 for 6 to 10 (1955 Rules). Bihar Shops and Establishments Act, 1953 (status unclear: a 2025 replacement Act was repealed in June 2026; the OSH Code, 2020 now applies). Under the 1953 Act every shop and establishment registers with the District Labour Superintendent; the replacement 2025 Act (10 or more workers only) never came into force and was repealed on 1 Jun 2026.
- Professional tax: Based on annual gross income: nil up to ₹3 lakh, ₹1,000 above ₹3 lakh, ₹2,000 above ₹5 lakh, ₹2,500 above ₹10 lakh (maximum ₹2,500 a year)
- GST registration: needed once turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for goods or ₹20 lakh for services.
